Da Nang, one of Vietnam’s most dynamic cities, is a perfect blend of stunning natural beauty, rich history, and modern attractions. Ba Na HillsFrom the towering peaks of Bà Nà Hills to the ancient temples of My Son, the city and its surroundings are filled with wonders waiting to be discovered. During my recent trip to Da Nang, I visited several must-see spots, including Bà Nà Hills, the Golden Bridge, Hoi An, Marble Mountain, My Son, and experienced the magical river night cruise.

Bà Nà Hills and the Golden Bridge

Bà Nà Hills, a stunning mountain resort just outside Da Nang, is one of the city’s most popular attractions. To reach the top, visitors take the world’s longest cable car ride, offering spectacular views of the surrounding forests and valleys. The journey takes you above lush landscapes and mist-covered mountains, a surreal experience in itself.

At the summit, visitors are greeted by the Golden Bridge, one of the most iconic sights in Vietnam. This ethereal bridge, held up by two giant stone hands, appears to float above the clouds, offering an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding mountain scenery. The surrounding area is also home to French-style architecture, gardens, and temples, making it a truly unique experience that combines both nature and man-made beauty.

Hoi An: A Walk-Through HistoryHoi An

Just a short drive from Da Nang, Hoi An is an ancient town that feels like stepping back in time. With its narrow streets, well-preserved architecture, and vibrant lantern-filled nights, Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage site that draws visitors from all over the world.

Walking through the Old Town of Hoi An is like exploring a living museum. The Japanese Covered Bridge, a symbol of the town’s diverse cultural influences, is a highlight.

The blend of Chinese, Japanese, and European styles is evident in the town’s historic buildings, which house charming shops, cafes, and artisan workshops. The vibrant street food scene is another highlight, with dishes like cao lầu and bánh mì offering a taste of the region’s culinary heritage.

In the evening, Hoi An transforms into a magical place as colorful lanterns light up the streets, creating a romantic and peaceful atmosphere.

Whether you’re shopping for local handicrafts or enjoying a quiet meal by the river, Hoi An is a place that offers both cultural richness and tranquility.

Marble Mountain: Spiritual and Scenic WondersMarble Mountain

Just outside Da Nang lies Marble Mountain, a cluster of five limestone hills that are home to caves, temples, and stunning panoramic views. The mountains are named after the five elements—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—and each mountain has its own unique charm.

Climbing to the top of Marble Mountain provides spectacular views of Da Nang, as well as a chance to explore ancient caves and Buddhist shrines.

The most notable is the Linh Ung Pagoda, which offers a peaceful space for reflection. The serene environment and striking natural beauty make Marble Mountain a must-visit spot for those seeking both adventure and tranquility.

My Son: Ancient Temples of the Champa Kingdom

For those interested in history, a trip to My Son is essential. Located about an hour from Da Nang, My Son is an ancient Hindu temple complex built by the Champa civilization between the 4th and 13th centuries. The site, surrounded by jungle and mountains, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a glimpse into Vietnam’s rich cultural past.

Though many temples have been damaged by time and war, My Son remains a powerful reminder of the Champa Kingdom’s architectural and spiritual achievements. The intricately carved stone temples, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, are a testament to the craftsmanship of the Champa people. Exploring My Son is a quiet, reflective experience that offers insight into Vietnam’s ancient history.

River Night Cruise: Da Nang by Night

My Son

A river night cruise along the Han River, which flows through the heart of Da Nang. As night falls, the city comes alive with shimmering lights reflecting off the water. The colorful Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire and water every evening, is a sight to behold from the river.

The cruise offered a serene escape, allowing me to take in the beauty of Da Nang’s modern skyline, with its lively waterfront cafes and bridges illuminated in a mesmerizing glow.

Da Nang is a city that beautifully balances natural landscapes, ancient heritage, and modern attractions. The river night cruise adds a magical touch, offering a unique perspective of this dynamic city.
