The holiday season is well under way here in Gaston County… Our family just wrapped up
a whirlwind week of Nutcracker rehearsals and productions for Anna, a Christmas parade appearance for Jonah, and extra chorus concert practices for Gabe and Jonah.
Between the caroling and basketball game and nightly Nutcracker carpools, I decked the halls. 🥰🎄🤶🏻
Our home is an older home and has a sort of vintage vibe, which has influenced my holiday style of decorating. Vintage Santa mugs adorn the scullery shelves… my cross-stitched cardinals accept a place of prominence on the hearth… a vintage ceramic painted Santa stands guard lighting the dessert and coffee bar in the man cave…
Matthew loves nativity sets (and I do too!), so nearly every room boasts its own nativity scene in our home.
He found a beautiful statue depiction of Santa bowing to baby Jesus, which stands by the living room fireplace.
Working with the style of the home when decorating for the seasons gives you a framework within which to operate.
Trying to stay up with the current styles and trends doesn’t work for every style of home and that’s okay!
I rely on one of my staging “rules” when decorating for the Season. Storing away pieces of everyday decor and replacing them with vignettes of seasonal pieces in groups of 3 or 5, keeps things less cluttered and more impactful.
What holiday decorating rules do you abide by? Or do you throw caution to the wind and just use all the things?😆🎄Whatever you do, remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and revel in the wonder of His
birth!
